A Way Out

Cedrick Fulton at his home in Hudson, NY

In January 2013, Prison Public Memory Project founder/director Tracy Huling interviewed Cedrick Fulton at the Hudson Area Library in Hudson, New York. A lifelong resident of Hudson, Cedrick spent a period of time in the early 1990s incarcerated at the Hudson Correctional Facility. In this excerpt from his oral history interview, Cedrick describes some of his experiences growing up in Hudson, including his early encounters with the local juvenile justice system.

Cedrick is now a community advocate in Hudson and works with organizations such as the Staley B. Keith Social Justice Center, Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood, and Kite's Nest. Cedrick has also published a memoir about his experiences in prison called, Are There Flowers in the Dark?
